You Can Write Short Articles

Short articles are easier then you might think. No, it's not as a daunting task if you know just what to do. The important thing to remember when you write is to try and catch your reader's attention. You must make them want to read what you have written. Here are a few pointers that you can follow when you are writing your articles.

Be Interesting

The first thing you want to do is grab your reader's attention. Remember that at first glance your title has to give people the feeling that they will benefit from reading your article. Writing a compelling title is piratically an art in itself. It must have sizzle that will allow it to stand out on its own. You must create a title that will grasp your reader's attention and hold it. Do not be afraid to go out on a limb and get crazy with your titles.

Your introductory words or paragraph, must inform your readers how they will benefit from reading your article, how it will improve them. Make sure it is formatted in such a way so that when your reader scans over your article, it can be viewed as a light, easy to understand, and a interesting article to read. So how do you make your article easy to scan? Use bullet points, headings, sub-headings, numbered list, and steps.

Spend time talking to your readers. Learn to be specific in your purpose and narrow down your article to its exact target audience. Make sure that your article will be understood by a wide range of people and age groups. Connect with your readers as a friend, giving him or her advice. Make your article friendly and let them know you are open minded enough to accept criticism that is well placed.

How to Write Articles

Outline Your Article

Prepare an outline. Writing will be much easier if you have already written up an outline of your article. Decide how many paragraphs you plan to have with your article. Outline your heading and sub-points for each heading. Make sure your heading does not brake off from your main topic of the article but must be supportive of the main heading. Your subtopics for each outline heading must remain related to your main heading and to each of the outlined heading.

Be sure to note if your article is concise, informative, and interesting. Do not write long paragraphs that would bore your readers. Try to keep them short and readable. You can always make examples, but make them short and to the point. Use the simplest sentences and use words that can be understood by almost any reader. Use the simplest words. Avoid using word that are very technical except when it is really necessary. Keep in mind just because your education level may be of a high level doesn't mean everyone is on the same level. Use words of direct and powerful actions and expression. Use active voice in writing sentences. This will be more positive in impression. Do not add words that are unnecessary or excessive.

Do Your Research

Be informative and substantive. Your article must be practical and valuable. You must do your research to make sure that your article will come out like you really know what you are talking about. Avoid lengthy idioms, analogies, quotes, anecdotes, and stories, but if you must give an example, make it short. This will ensure that your reader will get the information while appealing to their emotions. Your readers want information and definite summary of the whole article. It is this way that they will connect with you.

Thank you for your comment, me as a Journalist, I don't know about that although I have thought of trying out in that field. However at the moment I have a full plate in front of me as it is. I just started on a 6 years quest of further education as stated on the update of my profile and most likely many of my new articles will reflect on those topics. I will continue to write on other subjects, but my main focus will be on my curriculum.
