Nikons Flagship Of Cameras - The Nikon D3X

When I first seen this camera my tongue hit the floor and I was drooling a river. Naturally This is my dream camera I will be shooting for in the next year. Now this isn't for the amateur photographer, and rightly so, with it carrying a price tag of $7,999 retail, you want to be darn sure you plan to make money with it or already well on your way as a professional photographer. 

With this baby the sky is the limit when taking pictures, don't get me wrong if you have the money stashed somewhere in a nest egg then sure knock yourself out. I made that statement above with the assumption that only professional photographers would have an interest in this level of equipment. With that said lets dip into it features shall we.      

Nikon's new D3x camera is the one of only two 24 + mega-pixel cameras in production to date. The other one is put out by Canon which is the ( Canon EOS 5D Mark II.) Nikon D3x is a 24.5 Mega-Pixel FX-format which is (for those that do not know), (35.9 x 24.0mm CMOS sensor) D3X digital SLR camera! It is designed for for a highly targeted user group-the professional, such as studio photographers, or maybe the paparazzi, no matter this thing is geared to the teeth.

If your looking at the picture at the right, then you notice that the price I stated earlier is only for the body (without the lens), the lens cost extra. This camera has two live shooting modes, 27x magnification in the Tripod Mode. The 51 point AF system features 4 Dynamic AF modes, including 3D Focus Tracking which is good for autofocus precision.

This camera also has a 3-inch super-density 921,000-dot VGA LCD monitor that will allow you superb image review before committing to the shot. I'm not done yet there is more. It also has Four preset options which are : Neutral,Standard, Vivid and Monochrome, and 9 customizable settings that give you advanced, personalized color control. It also has a large rang of ISO setting ranging for ISO 100 - 1600, but it also supports a Lo-1 or (ISO 50 equivalent), Hi-1 (ISO 3200), and Hi-2 (ISO 6400). Having a large rang of ISO will allow you to work in all sorts of light settings.

This thing can shoot at 5 fps (Frames Per Second) at full FX - format resolution "I-MAX Here I Come"! You get the full viewfinder coverage to take advantage of. And to top this off you also can get 1,005-Pixel 3D Color Matrix Metering II with Scene Recognition System, or lets just say that it has intelligent auto exposure capabilities, with auto white balance detection, and a more accurate AF performance, Whew! that's a mouthful.

It also supports two CF memory card slots at the same time which can save you some time, not to mention that is also has a self-diagnostic shutter mechanism tested to exceed 300,000 cycles, but who's going to take that many pictures before the next upgrade?

OK this is starting to sound like some kind of sales ad, so maybe I should show off some pictures, I like pictures and the ones I seen this baby can do is nothing next to amazing.So I will post some down below just so you don't miss them. There are more features I can cover but I think ill just ad a few specs and move on.

I have seen some people say it weighs approx 2 pounds but from other sources I am getting 5 to 7 pounds, and I am not sure if this is with or without the packaging, the the dimensions are 6.3x6.2x3.4 inches which is the same as the Nikon D3. You can take 4400 shot with a single charge, and also allows you on screen cropping.  

See that Price off to the side? That is a whole professional photography kit right there, which explains the why it is so expensive. Whats in the kit? Well let me tell you, this is an everything you need to jump right in and start making a career out of it type of kit. First off the kit weighs 18 pounds, it comes with the Nikon D3x 24.5 Mega-Pixel Camera which we already know how much that runs. The kit comes with two lenses, the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens (which you can focus as close as 14.9 inches), and the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR Zoom Nikkor Lens. You also get a Nikon Digital SLR Gadget Camera Bag with 2 Transcend TS16GCF133 133x 16GB Compact Flash Card.To top it off you also get Willoughbys Clean & Protect Kit Includes: Samsonite 2600 Tripod W/ LCD Screen Protectors W/ Cleaning Wipe & Solution Kit.

As you can see that is a kit for anyone who wants to take their photography serious. At that price you want to be darn sure that is what you are wanting to do. With the right experience and know how, a good photographer can make that back in a month or less. If you was to buy all these items seprate you would be dishing out a lot more then what is listed here.

I wrote this article not just for people seeking out the next best thing but as a reminder to myself of my next dream camera, sure I could look at the pictures on my hard-drive but I spend a lot of time on online and having this here where I will see it everyday will keep me pushing forward to the day I have this very camera in my hands. That is unless something bigger and better comes to view before I acquire the money. Yes! I will have that camera and when I do you will see my photos plastered right here on hubpages for all to see.
