It's Not That Easy

What will it take to make an affiliate marketer successful? Is there a shortcut that an affiliate marketer can take to achieve success? Is there a step by step blueprint that affiliates can follow? This is just a few examples of questions that bounce around an affiliate marketers head.

Although many people will have you believe that affiliate marketing is easy, and some get the idea that it is just a cut and past type of business. It is not as easy as it sounds. The smart affiliate marketer will plan out his every move and execute it the best way he can. Some affiliates that know what they are doing, will maximize his potential earnings by utilizing the right tools needed to be successful. I have put together three of the necessary tools for a successful affiliate marketing business.

Having Your Own Website

The most important tool in an affiliate marketers arsenal is having his own website. Having a well designed, credible, and professional looking website says a lot about your business. This is your jump off point for all your marketing efforts. Therefor, having a user-friendly website that will appeal to your visitors, and encourage them to click on your links leading to the product. So keep in mind, when building your website, to have it to cater to them, because when they land on your page, they are no longer just surfers / browsers, but now your prospects.

One of the most important thing you should consider is that nearly all people that go online, go online to look for information, not necessarily to buy something. So this is why it is important to always make sure to use organic content that is relevant to what you are marketing. No! Seriously this is a "big" better yet a "huge" NO! NO!, so make sure your content is original.

This can be a big turn off to many people who come and visit your site, nobody wants to read duplicated or re-hashed information.

People will love reading your articles that are informative and helpful. What if I know nothing about that product? That is OK, this is why you will do marketing research on it so when you write your articles, you are giving good information, people will thank you for it. Remember content is king, and if your content is of good quality, people in turn gives you credibility. This can also achieve higher search engine ranking. Because your articles are relevant, you establish yourself as an expert in the field, in turn making you a more trustworthy endorser of the products or services you are promoting. This is a good start in building a loyal consumer base.

Added Incentives

Out on the internet, marketers are fighting tooth and nail to get the sale before another affiliate doe's. This is why you have to be one-step ahead of your rivals to ensure that you will get your fair share of the targeted market. To do this you must use everything possible to encourage people to visit your site, as well encourage them to click though to the service or products website that you are promoting.

Building an Opt-in email list is one of the best way to gather new prospects. You can offer them a newsletter or an eZine. However, offering them incentives, such as free software, access to exclusive services, or any other freebie that is helpful to your prospect.

Also, "this is a matter of opinion from one affiliate to another" , but try and refrain from pop ups, pop overs, and pop unders. This can, in many cases do, push a lot of would be shoppers away, and seek their needs elsewhere, therefor losing a prospect for future sales.

Now I am not saying you shouldn't have an Opt-in, by all means, I am just suggesting you place one on the page rather then in some sort of pop up. Also just from my own experience, having one that only request only a prospects email vs both their name and email tends to get better results. It seems people are far more comfortable releasing their email then their name. If you can get both then great, just experiment with it and see which opt-in gives you the best results.

Note: If you are advertising with Google AdWords, you will be restricted with using on-page opt-ins, using a pop-up will result in having your advertisements turned off or not accepted if they are leading to that page.

Getting Those Links

I can not stress this enough on the importance of driving highly targeted traffic to your website. Driving web traffic is at the top of the list of the most important entities in the internet world. Attracting people to your website should be the first step that you should carry out. You need to do anything and everything to achieve high search engine ranking.

Link popularity is one of the factors that search engines use to determine search engine rankings, so enhance your link popularity, launch an aggressive reciprocal link campaign.

One of the best ways to gain solid one way links - at no cost to you - is by submitting articles. If you write for places such as eZine Articles, or other free article websites, you get the opportunity to advertise your link in the resource box. This is one way to advertise for free, so the more articles you submit, the better you link popularity is. Also the advantage of this is that some article sites let other websites pull articles from their site which in turn exposes your links in many other places.

Always write your articles in a way that is original, relevant, and useful so that more websites will pick it up and post it on their site.

Remember The Tools

These are only three of the tools at the disposal of an affiliate marketer. The possibilities are virtually endless, you are only limited to your own imagination, creativity, and determination. Explore other ideas and if they work, you can adapt then into your campaigns that will help you become a high rolling affiliate.

Thanks for a very informative hub, I think many people have negative pre conceived notions about affiliate marketing, and that has kept me away, although I have always wanted to try it out for myself. Your hub will help me to approach it in a different way with a greater understanding of what to expect.

Thank you, you are right I was even worried about getting into affiliate marketing, then one day after spending 6 months or so decided "and told my self, you only live once" jump right in with both feet. Granted I failed miserably for about 4 months before then I stopped and took another heard look and took in all that I could learn before I started to see my bottom line take and upward turn.

Thanks for the informative Hub. Affiliate marketing can be quite trialsome.

I must say I need to learn as much as I can here!

I don't really like to old school way of marketing,it doesn't sit right with me, so at the moment I am testing a new model.

Basically I think people really want honesty in their emails to them etc.

So, I want to build a soild relationship with my followers and friends and hear what they have to say.

Thanks again

Thank you, I agree, I am not fond of the old school ways of affiliate marketing. It took me forever to figure a lot of this stuff on my own, and many people on line would not give to the down low of whats up. or they would tell you a small bit of it but not the whole formula to the equation.
